INFORMATION-ENTROPY METHOD FOR DETECTING GRAVITATIONAL WAVE SIGNALS

چکیده
The detection of gravitational waves came from a pair merging black holes marked the beginning era GW astronomy. Traditionally, to extract wave signals experimental data, scientific collaborations use standard matched filtering technique. technique relies on existing waveform templates, that makes it difficult find go beyond theoretical expectations. Moreover, computational cost filter is veryhigh, as depends number templates used. In this article, we propose new information-entropy method for does not require bank signal templates. To demonstrate reliability our conducted an analysis using simulated and real data. Through study, revealed measure conditional information detects can be used along with method.

Estimation of Parameters of Gravitational Wave Signals
With the on going construction of several large and medium scale laser in-terferometric gravitational wave antennas around the globe, the problem of the detection of gravitational waves has acquired great impetus. Since grav-itational wave signals from astrophysical sources are expected to be weak, despite the state of the art technology being employed, the development of optimal signal extract...
متن کاملIdentifying deterministic signals in simulated gravitational wave data: algorithmic complexity and the surrogate data method
We describe the application of complexity estimation and the surrogate data method to identify deterministic dynamics in simulated gravitational wave (GW) data contaminated with white and coloured noises. The surrogate method uses algorithmic complexity as a discriminating statistic to decide if noisy data contain a statistically significant level of deterministic dynamics (the GW signal). The ...
متن کاملDetecting gravitational wave emission from the known accreting neutron stars
Detection of gravitational waves from accreting neutron stars (NSs) in our galaxy, due to ellipticity or internal oscillation, would be a breakthrough in our understanding of compact objects and explain the absence of NSs rotating near the break-up limit. Direct detection, however, poses a formidable challenge. Using the current data available on the properties of the accreting NSs in Low Mass ...
متن کاملDetecting Massive Black Holes via Attometry: Gravitational Wave Astronomy Begins
In their fall 2015 observing run the two detectors of the Advanced Laser Interferometer GravitationalWave Observatory (Advanced LIGO) simultaneously observed transient gravitational-wave signals. The detected waveforms indicated the inspiral and merger of pairs of massive black holes more than 1 billion years ago. These discoveries marked the first direct detections of gravitational waves and t...
